The longtime Filipino-Chinese sportsman-businessman said the former G League guard negotiated with him directly. “Three years, [Sedrick] agreed, with no agent [accompanying him],” Sy told The Manila Times. The 29-year-old former SMU and Utah standout posted averages of 21.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup, where the Bossing failed to reach the playoffs. The contract extension of Barefield guarantees a reliable backcourt player, who can provide offense and playmaking for the Blackwater franchise. Sy expects the shifty guard to sign the new contract soon.
