Oct 23, 2026

Prime Lands Residencies PLC has officially commenced construction on The Elizabeth, a landmark ultra-luxury residential development located along Bauddhaloka Mawatha in Colombo 07.

Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka, October 23, 2026 /MarketersMEDIA/ -- Prime Lands Residencies PLC, the condominium arm of Prime Group, has officially commenced construction of The Elizabeth, Colombo 07, a landmark residential development under its prestigious The One Collection portfolio. Located along Bauddhaloka Mawatha, the development marks a significant milestone in the Group's vision to redefine ultra-luxury residential living in one of Colombo's most distinguished neighbourhoods.

Envisioned as an enduring architectural landmark, The Elizabeth brings together a prestigious address, contemporary design, elevated private amenities and a strong sense of heritage. The development is set to introduce a new standard for luxury apartments in Colombo Sri Lanka, offering discerning homeowners an opportunity to secure a residence in one of the capital's most sought-after residential locations.

Spread across approximately one acre of land, The Elizabeth will comprise around 200 spacious residences, featuring thoughtfully designed two, three and four-bedroom configurations. Each home is conceived to balance architectural sophistication with everyday functionality, privacy and timeless elegance, creating a residential experience designed to endure for generations.

The commencement of construction represents a key milestone for the project, with piling works to be undertaken by Access Engineering PLC, bringing its established engineering expertise and technical capabilities to the development's foundation stage.

Situated in Colombo 07, an address recognised for its heritage, exclusivity and enduring residential appeal, The Elizabeth presents a rare opportunity for homebuyers seeking contemporary living within an established and prestigious neighbourhood. With limited availability of land and distinguished residential properties in the area, the development is positioned as a lasting addition to Colombo's evolving luxury property landscape.

Residences at The Elizabeth are priced from LKR 129,750,000 upwards, offering prospective buyers the opportunity to own a home within an exclusive residential development distinguished by its location, architectural vision and premium living experience.

“Elizabeth represents a new chapter in how we understand the prestigious residential living in Colombo. It is not simply about creating another residence; it is about creating an address with a sense of identity, heritage and lasting value. The location, architectural vision and level of detail have all been carefully brought together to create something truly distinctive for a select community,” said PremaI nelal Brahmanage, Chairman of Prime Group.

The name The Elizabeth reflects the philosophy underpinning the development: an address inspired by heritage, defined by elegance and created for individuals who value legacy as much as luxury. From its carefully considered architecture to its exclusive residential environment, every aspect is designed to establish a distinctive sense of place and permanence.

As the premium residential portfolio of Prime Group, The One Collection represents the Group's commitment to developing exceptional homes in prestigious locations. Each development within the collection is thoughtfully curated to combine architectural distinction, refined living experiences and enduring value, catering to homeowners who seek individuality and sophistication.

With over 30 years of industry experience, Prime Group has established itself as a luxury real estate developer in Sri Lanka through its continued focus on quality, innovation and customer trust. Its award-winning condominium arm, Prime Lands Residencies PLC, has successfully delivered 45 apartment projects, with more than 50 developments across Colombo and its suburbs. As the largest real estate company listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, Prime Lands Residencies PLC continues to shape the country's residential landscape through a commitment to reliability and long-term value.

The Elizabeth, Colombo 07, is the latest expression of this legacy and a significant addition to The One Collection. With construction now underway, the development moves closer to establishing a distinguished residential address where heritage meets contemporary living, and where every home is envisioned as a lasting part of Colombo's architectural identity.

Hamilton sets sights on racing in African grand prix

AUSTIN, United States — Lewis Hamilton on Thursday welcomed Formula One’s  decision to return to Africa, but revealed reservations over the choice of Rwanda to host the continent’s first Grand Prix in more than three decades. The seven-time world champion also said he wanted to stay in F1 racing into his forties to make sure he can fulfil his dream of racing in an African Grand Prix. Speaking to reporters ahead of this weekend’s United States Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver said he was aware of concerns regarding Rwanda and said they should not be overlooked. "Of course, I don’t get to choose where we go and, naturally, there’s problems all over the world today,” he said. “I’ve seen many of the stories, but I think we really have to approach it with humility.” Formula One announced a 10-year agreement to race in Rwanda last week with the race set to join the calendar after a circuit has been built in the early 2030s. The last time an F1 race was held in Africa was the 33rd South African Grand Prix near Johannesburg in 1993 when Hamilton was just eight years old. "There’s a lot that we don’t know,” added Hamilton who has called for a return to Africa for many years. “Growing up in England, they never taught us anything about Africa. It needs to be on the curriculum… "A lot of the problems they have there are still the results of colonialism and the west intervening, but if you see the people, you see so many designs that are out there today. Top brands come from Africa, and it’s got all the richest resources. "I really hope, and I still have hopes, that Africa unites. I know there’s many people that don’t want that to happen -- because they would be so powerful if they did, but I’m still hopeful that at some stage they will. "And, of course, going doesn’t mean that you neglect the things that are happening there. "So hopefully many people start to educate themselves a little more about what is happening, what has happened for hundreds of years and I hope that does spark the conversation.” Hamilton, who warmly praised runaway championship leader Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes as he sat alongside him at a news conference, revealed also that he hopes to continue racing into his mid-forties. "I’m looking forward to racing with him longer. I mean, I’m now forced to have to stay a lot longer because we have a race in Africa -- and that’s been my dream, to be able to race in Africa.” "So, you’ve got time,” said the 20-year-old Italian. “You’ve got to do at least the first one.” "Yeah,” replied Hamilton. “I have to keep fighting to try and stay fit if I can. If I can still punch out good results over the next year, we’ll keep it going.”
