San Francisco, California, United States - August 25, 2016 /MarketersMedia/ —

Global hemophilia market is expected to reach USD 15.2 billion by 2024, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Increasing need for diagnosis of the target population in order to initiate prophylaxis treatment and supportive government programs is expected to be the vital impact rendering driver.
The market players are predicted to adopt strategies such as pipeline product development and geographic expansion in underdeveloped and developing regions, such as Middle Eastern and West African countries.
As of 2015, federal bodies such as the World Federation Hemophilia have vast information and treatment regulation in about 172 countries, of which 20 were added in 2013,including Nigeria, Togo, Mali, Zambia, Mauritania, and others.
Competitive pricing strategy is a vital factor promoting market players’ growth over the forecast period. For instance, Biogen launched Eloctate in 2014 in the U.S. at a lower price than the existing vastly used drug Advate.

Key findings

• Hemophilia B is expected to grow at a rapid rate of over 6.0% during the forecast period. Higher emphasis on pipeline products with an extended half-life and increasing incidence of hemophilia B affected patients are expected to be the prominent growth factors.
• On-demand treatment dominated the segment over the forecast period and is expected to contribute more than 50.0% by 2024. However, prophylaxis is expected to be the fastest growing segment because of the requirement for better control of bleeding episodes and growing financial assistance programs by healthcare providers and industry players.
• For instance, Grifols has launched the “AlphaNine SD Copay Card” and “ALPHANATE Copay Program” for immediate enrollment in prophylaxis treatment by patients.
• On the basis of therapy, gene therapy is expected to be the fastest growing segment as a result of increasing R&D and innovations in the field. Furthermore, replacement therapy is expected to witness lucrative growth due to the launch of extended half-life versions of currently available drugs.
• For instance, Novo Nordisk is working on N8-GP, CSL Behring is working on CSL689 rVIIa-FP, and Bayer is working on BAY 94-9027.These are expected to be commercially available around 2017/2018. This is expected to improve treatment over the forecast period thereby boosting growth.
• Major market players include Biogen, Novo Nordisk, Baxalta, Octapharma, CSL Behring, Pfizer, Inc., and Bayer Healthcare. Most of the companies are actively involved in the awareness and treatment programs launched by regional governments and hemophilia associations. Majority of their products that are awaiting FDA approval have extended therapeutic use in adults as well as children.

Sky is the limit: Carl Jammes Martin eyes world title after win over Picasso

MANILA, Philippines — Following his morale-boosting victory over David Picasso, the future is wide open for undefeated Filipino boxer Carl Jammes Martin. The 27-year-old fighter is eager to continue facing top-ranked contenders in the featherweight division or, should the right opportunity present itself, challenge for the WBO super-bantamweight crown, where he currently holds the No. 1 ranking. Martin outlined his team's potential next steps during Tuesday's Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at the Philippine Sports Commission media room, where he appeared alongside his father and trainer, Abel Martin. "Para sa akin gusto ko yung mas mataas pa kay Picasso. Yung nasa top 3 o top 4 ranking and gusto natin yung mas mabigat pa na pangalan, at world championship para sa susunod,” Martin stated. "Pero mas priority namin yung championship sa super-bantamweight division. But kung may offer naman na championship sa featherweight, doon muna ako mag-stay.” Martin was a guest at the session—presented by San Miguel Corporation, the PSC, the Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, and 24/7 sports app ArenaPlus—just a day after earning a hard-fought split decision win against Picasso in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That bout served as part of the undercard for the Canelo Alvarez-Christian Mbilli WBC super-middleweight title fight. With the victory over Picasso, who suffered a unanimous decision loss to Naoya Inoue last year, the Ifugao native improved his unblemished professional record to 29-0 with 21 knockouts. Sporting a small mark just beneath his right eye, Martin noted that he is entirely open to a rematch after Picasso requested a second meeting following their bout. "Sabi ko sige. May isang salita ako, may paninindigan ako at gagawin ko yung offer mo sa akin. Kasi ako nga inakyat ko siya sa division niya, so bakit di ko naman pagbibigyan yung hiling niya,” Martin said. However, according to the elder Martin, their immediate path forward rests in the hands of his son's management team, led by international matchmaker Sean Gibbons. "Nabanggit ni Sir Sean Gibbons na basta mag-prepare lang kami. So pahinga siguro kami ng one month," the trainer shared. "Unti-unti lang muna para pag dumating na yung schedule, makapag-simula na kami ng regular training.” TMT

A toast to a win? LeBron James takes a sip of wine after crashing into 76ers fan

PHILADELPHIA — At 41 years old and still playing at an elite level, some might say LeBron James is aging like a fine wine. Well, maybe having some wine during Monday's contest helped his game, too. After coming up empty on a fastbreak, James crashed into a Philadelphia 76ers fan behind the basket and took a a sip of the fan's wine during Philadelphia's 126-107 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. "I crashed into him, spilled some of his wine," James said after posting 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. "So I wanted to see if it was worth it on my arm and how good it was. It was alright." There were laughs all around at the end of the answer, a sign of how things have been going for James since he decided to join the 76ers in July. He and the 76ers are having a lot of fun right now. And why not? They won their fourth straight game on Monday to improve their Eastern Conference-leading record to 7-1. James started alongside the star-studded 76ers lineup with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown. All scored in double-figurers on Monday night, with Maxey leading the way with 26 points. It seemed like some, um, celebrating was in order — even if in-game. A toast to a good decision? To another win? To having fun? Maybe to all of it? "It's a long marathon, and if you don't find ways to have fun throughout — even though you're working, even though you're locked in — it can wear on you," James said.

Simmers, Medina make history as first Philippines Pro champions

SIARGAO, Philippines – Caitlin Simmers and Gabriel Medina claimed the women's and men's titles, respectively, in the first-ever World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour Philippines Pro at Cloud 9 on Tuesday.  Simmers, the American world No. 6, defeated Australia's Isabella Nichols, 12.00-10.77, in the women's final to become the first women's champion of the Philippine leg.  Simmers secured her place in the championship round after beating world No. 2 Carissa Moore in the semifinals.  Moore's campaign came to an end after she received an Interference Penalty 2, which wiped out the wave where the violation occurred and her second scoring wave.  Nichols reached the final after defeating fellow Australian Tyler Wright in the other semifinal but fell short against Simmers in the title match.  The prestigious competition is presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), with the support of Surigao del Norte Gov. Robert Lyndon Barbers, General Luna Mayor Johnson Sajulga and Vice Mayor Romina Sajulga.  In the men's final, Brazilian world No. 4 Gabriel Medina defeated Australian Jack Robinson to claim the inaugural men's crown, finishing with 16.93 points against Robinson's 14.50.  Medina built his winning score with a 9.43 on his opening wave and a 7.50 on his second. Robinson, ranked No. 12 in the world, posted an 8.23 and a 6.27 but settled for second place.  Before reaching the final, Medina eliminated world No. 1 Yago Dora in the semifinals, while Robinson secured his finals berth by defeating fellow Australian Ethan Ewing.  Medina and Simmers will each receive US$80,000 for winning the men's and women's titles, respectively, while runners-up Jack Robinson and Isabella Nichols will take home US$40,000 apiece.  Yago Dora, Ethan Ewing, Carissa Moore and Tyler Wright, who finished third in their respective divisions, will each pocket US$20,000.  Meanwhile, Filipino bets John Mark “Marama” Tokong and Jayuard Alciso will each receive US$14,000, while Noah Arkfeld will take home US$13,000. Young Filipina surfer Mara Lopez, meanwhile, will receive US$13,500.  Also supporting the event are the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), and NEA/SIARELCO.  Fans can watch the competition through the One Sports YouTube channel and Cignal Play.
