MEND Technology has announced the availability of the MEND Professional Unit, a frequency-specific microcurrent device designed to give practitioners manual, automated, and programmable operation in one portable unit, with capacity storage for up to 999 custom protocols.

Vancouver, United States, October 22, 2026 /NewsNetwork/ -- The recently announced MEND Professional Unit, a frequency-specific microcurrent (FSM) device available through MEND Technology, combines manual, automated, and programmable operation in a single unit for physical therapists and other FSM practitioners.

As the benefits of FSM for health and wellness continue to gain medical recognition in recognized publications like the MDPI journal Healthcare, the newly announced unit from MEND Technology allows professionals to embrace this modality.

The machine can store up to 999 protocols written by the practitioner, and any loaded protocol can be pulled up quickly when a session begins. While the device is running, the practitioner can change polarity, waveform, frequency, intensity, and time, and a built-in keypad allows frequencies to be entered directly in manual mode or partway through a protocol. Up to nine protocols can also be daisy-chained so they run in sequence.

The Professional has a large backlit display and is portable, running on two AA alkaline batteries and measuring 5.1 x 3.2 x 1.1 inches at a weight of 6.42 ounces. It delivers square-pulse output across a programmable frequency range of 0.1 to 999.9 Hz at a 50 percent duty cycle, with current intensity adjustable from 20 to 400 microamps through a constant current generator.

Two fully independent output channels connect through 2.35 mm shielded jacks, output polarity can be programmed as alternating, positive, or negative, and the unit supports an output load resistance of 0 to 100K ohms. Protocols are loaded through a USB Type-C programming port, and the device carries a one-year warranty.

Practitioners can purchase the Professional on its own or as the MEND Professional Package. The MEND software is sold separately from the device-only option, while the package bundles the Professional unit with the software, a USB cable, leads, electrode pads, and conductive material.

MEND Technology also offers the MEND Wellness Unit, which is suitable for a wider range of users, including practitioners who are new to microcurrent therapies. The Wellness unit holds up to 99 protocols for owners of the software and is loaded by the company with a bonus library of Physical Medicine protocols for pain, giving newer users a ready-made starting point before they begin putting protocols together on their own.

Russia to host 2030 world weightlifting champs in Olympic federation first

PARIS, France — Moscow was announced Sunday as host of the 2030 world weightlifting championships, the sport's governing body becoming the first Olympic federation to hand Russia global staging rights since 2022. No world championships in an Olympic sport, summer or winter, have been held in Russia since the start of the war against Ukraine. The 2025 world swimming champs, initially attributed to the Russian city of Kazan, were moved to Singapore. "Concerning the IWF (Senior) World Championships in 2029, it will be staged in Ahmedabad (India), and Moscow (Russia) will host the 2030 edition," the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) said in a statement. IWF general secretary Jose Quinones added that "all the bids we received were excellent and we are sure that the championships in your respective countries will be a huge success". In a post on Telegram, Russian Weightlifting Federation president Aleksandr Vinokurov thanked the IWF "for their trust", with the 2030 world champs also serving as a qualifying event for the 2032 Olympic Games. "Russia has all the necessary experience and capabilities to host competitions of the highest level," he said. "Moscow has repeatedly staged major international sporting events and has modern infrastructure." The federation toasted its success in snagging the hosting rights. "The Russian Weightlifting Federation is the first Olympic sports federation to succeed in bringing a top-level official competition back to the country in many years," it said. The decision to name Moscow as the host is a ground-breaking one and comes in the wake of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announcing a pathway for Russian athletes to compete in international competition. A state-sponsored doping program implemented, according to the World Anti-Doping Agency, at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, and the assault on Ukraine launched by President Vladimir Putin in 2022 resulted in Russians competing in various guises at international competition, most recently as Individual Neutral Athletes. However, on July 7 Russia came in from the cold when the IOC eased restrictions on Russian athletes and opened a pathway for them to compete in qualifying events for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. A furious Ukraine filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) requesting that the IOC decision be annulled.
