Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Breck Tiernan, who serves patients in Joliet, Illinois.

New York City, New York Apr 25, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Dr. Tiernan is a skilled podiatrist who provides adult & pediatric foot care at Advanced Foot and Ankle Center of Joliet, which he opened back in 2007. Specializing in treating heel pain and bunions, his clinic is filled with new state-of-the-art equipment to help heal all foot and ankle conditions conservatively and get his patients back on their feet pain-free.

Advanced Foot and Ankle Center of Joliet is a part of Advanced Foot and Ankle Centers of Illinois, which employs the latest research and cutting-edge technology to help people rebound from foot pain every day. "Our practice is working together to realize a shared vision of uncompromising excellence in podiatric care" as stated by their mission statement on their website.

Born and raised in Eastern Iowa, Dr. Tiernan started his medical training at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 2001. During this time, he helped write two peer-reviewed scientific articles while training at the world-renown Weil Foot and Ankle Institute in Des Plaines, Illinois with Dr. Thomas Roukis. After graduating with his medical degree in 2005, he was surgically trained at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago with an emphasis on bunion correction and ankle arthroscopy. He also took numerous classes on lower limb deformities and completed three external fixation courses around the country.

"In my clinical experience, patient comfort and education during an appointment are the most important aspects of any doctor visit. My goal as a physician is to make the appointment as relaxing and calming as possible and to also educate the patient about the condition and possible treatments. I encourage all questions about the condition and treatments. I will explore all options of treatment for every condition and I will only consider surgery when all conservative treatment has been exhausted." as stated by the doctor.

In addition to being a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, he has published two papers, one of them being "Spontaneous Bilateral Ankle and Midfoot Sepsis in a Nonimmunocompromised Patient" in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association (2006; 96: 139-147).

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of a variety of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.

Happily married with 3 children, Dr. Tiernan is an avid golfer and football fan ( go Hawkeyes!). He has played 28 out of the top 100 golf courses in the world. He is hoping to get to as many of them as possible. His all-time top 10 favorite courses include Royal Dornoch, Cruden Bay, Cabot Cliffs, Ballybunion - Old Course, Lahinch, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst #2, Royal County Down, Old Course at St. Andrews, and Turnberry (Ailsa).

Unbeaten Cool Smashers keep Thunderbelles winless

MANILA, Philippines — The defending champion Creamline notched its third straight victory after defeating the winless ZUS Coffee, 25-19, 16-25, 26-24, 25-17, in the 2026-27 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference–Siklab Series on Saturday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City. Creamline improved to 3-0 win-loss record, tied with Nxled at the top of the standings, while ZUS Coffee dropped to 0-3 and joined Galeries Tower Highrisers at the bottom of the team standings. Bernadeth Pons led the Cool Smashers with a double-double performance of 16 points and 14 excellent receptions. Decorated playmaker Jia De Guzman orchestrated the offense with 17 excellent sets.  Middle blocker Pangs Panaga scored 15 points and Tots Carlos added 10 points for the Cool Smashers. Under the Siklab Series’ “all-to-play” rule, which requires every player listed on the statistical sheet to see at least one minute of action, head coach Sherwin Meneses admitted he is still searching for the team’s ideal combination. “Actually, we don’t know how to do it yet, since this is the first time in the Philippines that we’re following an ‘all-to-play’ format,” Meneses said, referring to the second frame where Creamline lost.  “It’s about the players, and we gave our trust to them. As a coach, this is my first time experiencing it too. We haven’t mastered the format yet, but we’re still maneuvering our players. Our advantage is that we have a lot of players; we’re still learning which ones work best together.” Creamline’s veterans also contributed as Jema Galanza added eight points for Creamline and tallied 10 excellent digs in the match, while Michele Gumabao and Bea De Leon both scored six points each. The Thunderbelles, who are still looking for their first win in the tournament, relied on Zam Nolasco's 16-point effort even as Alyanna Ong added 12 points. Creamline will next face Capital 1, while ZUS aims to finally crack through the win column when it faces PLDT on Oct. 29 at the Santiago Sports Arena in Santiago City.
